Wedding Planning Checklist the Easy Way

By Rick Anderson

Though it might initially seem that way, you'll find that wedding planning does not have to be at all overwhelming. People have been doing it since we started having weddings, and all weddings a few factors in common. By having a basic outline to work with, even a cheap and cost-effective wedding can be gorgeous and stress free.

The first thing to make wedding planning easy after you pick the date, is to pick a theme, setting or the type of wedding you want. This will make it easier to choose coordinating invitations, reception theme, food or entertainment, dresses and flowers, and type of ceremony.

Ideas for themes might involve ballerina weddings, snow princess weddings, country themes, winter wonderland, or beach themes. Settings can include wineries, castle ruins, waterfalls, rose gardens, gazebos, beachfront at sunset or whatever your imagination can come up with.

Once you have decided on the theme and setting, the type of wedding you want will fall into place, whether your wedding planning is a formal wedding, or planning a cheap wedding. Most people think the invitation is the first thing, but actually it should be last in your wedding planning, as it sets out the agenda and venue of the wedding.

Considering the Ceremony

When planning the ceremony, you will find that you are covering flowers, accessories, clothing, photography and decorations. You should take the time to choose the brides and the bridesmaid dresses at this point, and they should match your venue and theme. Use flowers and decoration to set the stage and let the photographer know what shots you want The theme and venue will tell you whether you are planning a formal or casual wedding.

For example, if you are having a beach wedding, the dresses may be pretty sundresses with sandals, and decorations of tropical plants and flowers or leis. The photography will involve shots of the couple with the sunset in the background, running barefoot on the beach, the family picture in the tropical garden and feeding the seagulls.

What About the Reception?

For a lot of people, the reception planning is the most fun. This is the food and entertainment, and you can match the decoration to your theme and venue. Consider whether you want to encourage gifts or discourage them. Because many weddings no longer involve the creation of a new household from scratch, you may choose to let your guests off of the hook when it comes to this one.

You can always put down No gifts please on the invitations. Instead of gifts, you will often end up getting cards, some of which will almost certainly have cash inside. This is much easier than transporting or even returning gifts that you don't want or need, and gifts o cash can help you when you are working on defraying the cost of a wedding.

Consider what you are going to serve at the wedding, and when you are going to do it. If your reception falls during a meal time, you will be expected to feed your guests a meal Choose food and entertainment that work well with your theme. Once you have finished this part of your wedding planning, you'll be pleased to see that it is all done!

Once this is all taken care of, just write it down and then send out those invitations. That wasn't so very hard at all! - 15784
