Friday Night Date Nights

Once you start traveling down the marriage highway, it is easy to forget that one great way to keep the love alive is to spend "just you two" time. Especially after you started adding kids in the mix. We have being using Friday Night Date Night as just the way to have that time. We initially found that finding the time, money, and babysitter made the ideas of date seem like too much trouble very often. Then we some how, heard about it I think, came up with a way that made all the obstacles disappear. And I believe that our relationship reflects the benefit of that night out.

See we have 5 children, ages 15 to 9. And we also have good friends in the same place - 5 kids fairly close to our kids ages. This is the important piece to making this work.

The Working Model

Here is the basics: every week on Friday, either us or our friends has a night out. We alternate weeks and I tell you, seldom do we miss it. The couple who is going out takes their children over to the house of the other couple around 5:30, for example Kathlyn (our friend) brings them over to our house. Julie then feeds all the kids (nuggets are a main staple) and then the kids all hang out until around 9. At that time, Julie takes Kat's kids back to their house and snuggles those cuties into bed. She then stays there until Kat & Jeff return home. And what's great is there no time limit. I'd take care of my kids back home. The next week, our turn.

What's the big deal?

This might seem really simple, but there is genius and beauty in the whole plan. Sometimes the best things are simple, right? Here are the reasons it works so well:

* A consistent, responsible babysitter who is never late nor seldom backs out. You gotta remember the babysitter has a date already on the books for next week that depends on yours going off without a hitch.

* Doesn't cost a thing! Remember the 5 kids - a night out can cost a small king's ransom.

* Most babysitters come in teenager sizes. And for a 13 or 14 year old to manage 5 kids is asking a whole lot. The cool thing about combining the families is that they tend to babysit themselves as they play together. And it really is not all that difficult. Plus as parents with 5 kids, we have the expertise to handle the group.

* Your babysitter doesn't grow up and stop babysitting. Nothing worse than training a babysitter, only to have her get a boyfriend, or a life, and decide she's out of the business.

* No "why can't I play Wii" or "Bobby hit me" phone calls just as you are gazing longingly into your spouse's beautiful eyes. Boy can that be a downer on a date.

* You don't have to take the babysitter home, or worse yet go get the kids at midnight, bring them home and put them to bed. Don't I love looking forward to that when I'm having that romantic dinner with Julie!

* The house is always clean when we get here, since the kids weren't here all night. So no getting up on Saturday to throw away pizza boxes and pop cans.

* Here's a perk for the other mom - once Kat puts the kids to bed, she gets a little alone time - the chance to brew a big cup of tea and read a book or watch her favorite show.

What happens as the kids get older?

Julie and I are not willing to go into the older siblings babysitting arena on our "coveted" date night. Once you tasted the good life of uninterrupted, clean house, worry free date night, you can never go back. Not until you are packing the last U-haul to college.

So what's stopping you? Ask those friends that as are harried as you are and long to wear grown up clothes and have grown up conversations. If you can't ask, just shove this article in their hand and look at them pleadingly. - 15784

Both men and women feel unsettled by this jealousy as they are fearful of losing their partner and it can be a very uncomfortable emotion to feel.

What is love exactly? Many people think that it is controlling their partner, which includes some jealousy. Love is not dominating and bullying the lover because real love is unconditional and built with trust.

The origin of jealousy is a very deep rooted one that is difficult to overcome. Tip #3: Your Hand Will Cramp - Many exhibitors will be offering prizes at their booths and you'll be asked to fill out a ballot form. You waste valuable time writing out your contact info again and AGAIN. Then it will be easy to just peel and stick your info to the ballots. Then you can spend quality time checking out all the cool stuff on display!

Beware of the Bridezilla - If you think that there wont be a bridezilla at the bridal fair, you are so very wrong. Expect her to be there. She will be pushing your Mom. She will be making fun of your wedding colors. She will push you around to get the prize. She will scream in your ears about how expensive things are. So what will you do when you come across one? Just ignore her. The more attention you pay her, the more aggressive she will get. So forget about her and enjoy the bridal fair!

Tip #5: Be Patient & Be Nice " Be the opposite of bridezilla. The exhibitors at the show have brought some really great deals with them... some that you won't even know about unless you talk to them! It's true!

You will end up learning about some wonderful deals they are offering. And the best part is that they will give you free advice just for being nice and patient. After all, who doesnt want to work with brides they can get along with?

Drink Drink Drink! - Dont forget to take some water with you to the bridal fair. The heat and the walking will soon make you tired and thirsty. So keep yourself hydrated and have fun going around from one booth to another.

Be Confident While Making Your Choices - At the bridal fair, you will find lots of exhibitors, lots of brides and lots of confusion. But dont get overwhelmed with it. You dont have to make a choice right there. Here are some tips which can help you make the right choice:

Know What You Want at the Bridal Fair - Find what you are looking for and just have fun with the rest of it. You dont have to plan your whole wedding right there. Some vendors might be great in your opinion whereas some others may not be so great. Just meet with them and find the vendors who you know should be a part of your wedding.

One by One - Approach each vendor calmly, ready to hear the sales pitch (yes- the sales pitch). The exhibitors are there to sell to you. You're there to buy right? So if someone is overwhelming you just ask them politely to SLOW DOWN. You don't need the info dump! Ask the questions you want answered.

This sounds like a bad joke but it isn't. Researchers say that Valentine's Day can be dangerous to your health. The reason: the most romantic day of the year is also the time when a lot of couples break up.

This shocking news comes from Arizona State University researchers who found that couples are five times more likely to split apart on Valentine's Day than on any other day. This often occurs during the two-week period before and after that occasion.

This startling fact was uncovered after researchers studied 245 students. The subjects were interviewed about their personal relationships.

"One group was asked to fill out a questionnaire a week before Valentine's Day and then repeat the same questions a week after February 14. The other three groups had to answer the same questionnaire on two occasions a fortnight apart but did so in September, November or April," reported Robin Yapp of the Daily Mail.

"After allowing for other factors that may influence the likelihood of a split - such as length of relationship and number of former partners - couples were five and a half times more likely to break up close to Valentine's Day," he added.

Professor Steven Neuberg, a psychologist and lead author of the study, said the stress of Valentine's Day that causes these problems appears to stem from the fact that the occasion is often a no-win situation.

If you're romantic, some people may interpret that as a false gesture that goes with the holiday. If you do nothing, it may be perceived as a sign that you don't care. Either way, you lose, Neuberg said.

"Seeing others enjoying candlelit dinners, exchanging gifts or kissing can lead us to think other couples enjoy more romantic relationships," Yapp said.

"We suggest that Valentine's Day may be less beneficial to relationships than those who market cards, flowers, chocolates and jewelry would have one believe. Indeed, we propose that Valentine's Day is harmful to many relationships," Neuberg concluded.
