Placecard Holders - A Wedding Must Have

By Andrea M.

The details involved in planning a wedding can be overwhelming at times. There are so many things that have to happen. Flowers and decorations must be ordered, catering arranged for the reception, a seating chart made up and place cards printed, and something must be ordered to hold the place cards. Placecard holders are a seemingly small detail that can have a serious repercussions if they are absent because that would create a flaw in what should be the most perfect day of a bride's life.

Due to the fairly large number of people that usually attend a wedding and reception, seating charts are an essential item. While all the guests are friends or family of the bride or groom or both, there is no guarantee that all of these people will get along with one another for an extended period of time. Catering services create another good reason for having a seating chart. They often offer a choice of two different entrees with the dinner and a seating chart makes it easier for them to serve the proper dish to each person.

Place cards are an important part of the seating arrangement to ensure that everyone knows where they are to be placed during the dinner. Many people would consider it a little bit tacky to just put the place cards on people's plates to mark the seat they are to take. Also, this would not be sanitary practice given the number of different people who have probably handled the place cards.

Placecard holders are usually a multipurpose item at the reception. These are often also one of the wedding favors given to the guests as "Thank you" gifts for attending. Because of this facet of their purpose, place card holders should normally be something that the guests will glad to receive, yet they should not be overly expensive due to the number needed to give each individual one.

One item that is a good example of placecard holders that double as wedding favors is photo frames. These are small frames that hold the place cards at the reception and can have a wedding photo placed inside after those are developed. There are several different styles of this size frame from standard desktop frames to class coasters slotted to hold the place cards and wedding photos.

If the couple chooses to go with something smaller that will only be used as a placecard holder, there are many small items that are slotted to hold the edge of the place cards and will fit into the overall dcor without being obvious or in the way. Even these items do not take up a great deal of space or stand out, their absence would be a major problem in the eyes of the bride because her day is somehow less than perfect.

Place card holders may not seem to be a critical item in the grand scheme when planning a wedding. They could be easily overlooked. But, the fact is that they are very important. - 15784
