You are not alone in your anxiety

People who suffer with social anxiety, sometimes known as social phobia, can find situations that most of us consider everyday to be overwhelming. Different people will have different levels of anxiety in similar situations.

Do you find a trip to the movies sends you into a panic? Well some people do, what about the thought of eating dinner with a group of people you don't know? These are just two of the things that people with social anxiety disorders could well find totally unbearable.

Social anxiety attacks make people doubt themselves, someone who suffers with anxiety attacks will convince themselves that everyones eyes are on them. The fear of being noticed and even more importantly that someone will see them make a mistake often becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

If you are in a situation that could possibly cause minor worry in most of us, such as a crowd of people suddenly appearing and people coming in a bit close. Someone with social anxiety could well go into a full on anxiety attack, couple that with the fear that someone will notice their anxiety and it all compounds into a very frightening anxiety attack.

These symptoms of anxiety can often lead to embarrassment for the person that has social anxiety. Some people that have social anxiety disorder are comfortable being only with close family and friends. Others people with social anxiety only fear certain social situations. Some people become anxious when they are dealing with people in higher positions such as their boss.

The anticipation of an event can be almost as bad as the actual event for people who have social anxiety disorders. Public speaking is one of the best known fears that people have, imagine having that level of fear every time you want to use a public toilet?

Your social anxiety disorder may become severe and can interfere with work or other events that you may have in your life. There are many people that have social anxiety disorder. Women can be more likely then men to have social anxiety disorder.

If you have any form of anxiety it is very easy to have your life taken over by it. Our social interactions are what help us to find a partner, friends and the relationships formed outside of the home make up a big part of peoples happiness. - 15784
