Wedding - What does it means?

By Neil J. Daniel

A wedding between two people although it can be religious, is also a legal contract that both partners agree too. Despite the religious perspective to describe a marriage, it is still a legal matter and documents must be signed before the law recognizes that a couple is married.

There are a great many wedding traditions around the world but the terms bride and groom before the couple are married and wife and husband seem to be universal. There are many factors that can affect a wedding tradition and those of religion, race and social class for example, ca make it very complicated.

Performed by a Christian priest or vicar, the Church wedding ceremony continues to be top of the list as a wedding venue. The traditional white wedding as we know it is really only a service that is popular in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland and some other Commonwealth countries.

A rare type of wedding is where two separate couples decide to marry at the same time and this is known as a double wedding. Ceremonies such as this are usually instigated by siblings who like the idea of a simultaneous wedding.

A destination wedding is any wedding in which the engaged couple and or a majority of their guests travel to attend the ceremony. It doesn't matter exactly where you travel to, whether it is in Egypt or just to Las Vegas it will still be considered a destination wedding.

Whilst it is quite normal for the Irish to have three day weddings, more couples are taking the hint and having their weddings over a weekend which gives them more time to enjoy the occasion. Themed weddings can involve golf, hang-gliding, shooting or any type of venue you can imagine. For many people that have outdoor pursuit interests this can be a lot of fun and the guests can stay for the weekend with them to extend the wedding.

Internet weddings seem to be something that has come about recently and a number of people are now using this method to seal their vows. There are even guides for information on how to go about an internet wedding with information on people that can carry it out for you. An internet or online wedding can also refer to a situation where a couple may broadcast their wedding to friends and family in other parts of the world.

Even a mayor can carry out the ceremony and most places out side of a church will use one of these people. Civil wedding ceremonies may use references to God, but generally they do not make references to a particular religion or denomination. Often, this type of service will take place in a judge's chambers, town or city hall or any other specially designated place.

The information provided here is mainly about weddings and marriage in the Western world primarily based on and around Christian beliefs. - 15784
