Book Review of "The Message" by Lance Richardson

By Christopher Loch

After dying in a motorcycle accident, Latter-day Saint author Lance Richardson was brought back to life by emergency medical personell. While doctors and nurses fought to keep him alive, Lance was being welcomed into the world of spirits by his family members who had gone before him.

During his time there Lance reveals some fascinating insights into the place our spirits go after we die and the ones who live there:

1. The spirits of humans, plants, and animals communicate with each other telepathically.

2. Beasts like lions are totally harmless..

3. Guardian angels are actually the spirits of our deceased ancestors.

4. The Spirit World and Earth actually co-exist in the same place but in different dimensions.

While on his tour of the Spirit World it is made known to Lance that he will eventually come out of his coma. When he does it is extremely important that he brings a message to the inhabitants of America. This is the essence of The Message:

1. God, our Heavenly Father, loves his children more than we can ever understand.

2. As part of God's plan to save His Children, America's founders were inspired by God to form a nation where freedom of religion could exist. Jesus Christ will eventually rule the Earth from New Jerusalem in America. Because America is a special land, God will protect her from her enemies as long as her people serve Him. If the forget Him he will allow her enemies to destory her.

3. America has forgotten the morals that were the source of her strength as a great nation.

4. As part of this trend, America has embraced the idea that truth is relative, when in fact it is eternal.

5. The family is the fundamental unit of society and must be protected.

6. Service is more important than we realize. In fact, it is how everything is done in the Spirit World. When people serve each other, both are edified and their hearts are turned towards God. Through this proecess our country can be transformed into Zion one family and on city at a time.

This 187 page book is both fascinating and uplifting. I highly recommend it to those who have ever wondered what happens to our souls after the lights go out. I have given my original copy to a friend who lost his wife in a car accident.

Although many of the concepts presented in this book are not confirmed by the accepted doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I did not encounter anything in its' pages that goes against LDS Church doctrine either. I believe the words of Brother Richardson and I look forward to the day when I can be reunited with the loved ones that have gone before me. - 15784
